What Friends Are For

Author: Aidenfire
Rating: G
Notes: MWPP era. I don't actually like this one very much. I don't think I managed to convey the feelings I wanted. I think I tried to put too much action

What Friends Are For

Remus sighed. It was full moon again. He’d have to think of another lie to tell his friends. Remus hated lying to them, but there was no choice. He heard a Snuff. He looked up to see a dog standing by his bed. Where had it come from? He started to walk carefully past it, only to stop dead. A huge elk stood in front of him. With…a rat on its back? Suddenly the dog was gone, and Sirius was standing in its place. “Not this time mate. You’re not sneaking off alone. We know. And we’re coming with you.”

What Matters Most

Harry walks into the changing room. He’d been practicing by himself. It is late. Malfoy is standing at Harry’s locker, facing away from Harry. He doesn’t hear Harry come in.

“Malfoy! What are you doing?” Guiltily, Draco drops Potter’s shirt. Potter seems to be waiting for a reply. Draco doesn’t have one. He doesn’t know what he is doing himself, except for an inexplicable urge to smell what had been tantalizing him for weeks – the scent of Potter. But how could he explain that? Draco smiles.

Later, feeling decidedly afterglow-y, Harry decides it doesn’t really matter what Draco’d been doing.

What's In A Name

When he was younger, Regulus pronounced his name like regular. And he was regular. He played with his laughing older brother, and listened to Sirius complain about prejudice and their mother. Then Sirius became a Gryffindor, and when Regulus became a Slytherin, he found Gryffindors had nothing to do with Slytherins. For the first time he truly heard the words of his mother, words about mudbloods and purebloods. He began to pronounce his name like regal. He began to think of himself as royalty. Regulus was now too regal to talk to those below him -- filthy muggle-lovers like his brother.
